With 400 million members and users worldwide, 70 percent of which is outside the United States and which includes Fiji, there is concern from local frequent users that they will have to start paying for Facebook.
Addressing 32 journalists from around the world on a Social Media Tour at the Facebook Headquarters in Palo Alto, San Francisco, Facebook Director Policy Communications Barry Schnitt said they are not planning to make people pay to use this social network site.
He said this was never the plan.
Facebook was launched in 2004 by a group of friends at Harvard University created only for them to keep in touch, it then grew as a site for students on campus and then went national and international into the biggest social network site to date.
6 billion minutes are used up everyday when about 200 million users log in with more than a billion photos uploaded a month.
No plans for people to pay on Facebook
