No person to act as director in more than one media organisation
The draft decree also states that where a person or his or her associate owns a beneficial interest in any one media organisation, that person or his or her associate may own a further interest only in one other media organisation, provided that any such interest in that other media organisation shall not include any voting or controlling interest in that other media organisation and that any such interest in that other media organisation shall not exceed five percent non-voting interest in that other media organisation.
The draft decree states that any interest in a media organisation held contrary to this section shall be disposed by the holder of such an interest within 12 months of commencement of this decree.
When Fijivillage contacted Mai TV/Mai Life Managing Director Richard Broadbridge about this issue, he stated that he would not make any comments at this stage.
State owned enterprises or any enterprises in which the state owns majority shares are exempt from this cross media ownership provision.
