Vodafone Fiji 7s lanky forward Waisea Nayacalevu believes that no one will give up their spot easily as they count down to the Rio Olympics team announcement next week.

Nayacalevu said it is every sevens player’s dream to be part of the historic sevens debut in the Olympics and he is working hard to achieve that.

Meanwhile coach Ben Ryan said he will reduce the number of forwards from nine to six in the next 7 days.

Ryan admitted it would be a tough call to choose from players such as Nayacalevu, Apisai Domolailai, Jasa Veremalua, Semi 'The Beast' Kunatani, Viliame Mata, Leone Nakarawa, Pio Tuwai, Masivesi Dakuwaqa, Sevuloni Mocenacagi and Nemani Nagusa.

He said that Josua Tuisova will be joining the squad today.

Ryan added that Emosi Mulevoro, Amenoni Nasilasila and Jerry Tuwai have been training hard but only two will make the cut for Rio for the halfback’s position.

In the rover and first five-eighth position, captain Osea Kolinisau, Vatemo Ravouvou, Alivereti Veitokani and Kitione Taliga are competing for the two spots available.

The other contenders for the backline are Savenaca Rawaca, Tuisova, Kunatani, Samisoni Viriviri, Jarryd Hayne and Josua Vici.

The final 13 players that will be part of the Fiji 7s team to Rio will be announced next Friday by Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama.
