No one is taught to hate others-PM
These are the words of Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama while opening the two day Kadavu Provincial Council meeting at the Studio six hotel in Suva, saying this is a problem which was brought about by politicians and has led to racial divide within society.
Bainimarama said this is the reason why the government introduced the People's Charter and said although initially there were a lot of objections to it when it was introduced, his government remained adamant that they will get rid of the racial divide in society through the charter.
Bainimarama called on the chiefs of Kadavu to work with the government as the Charter will bring about unity in the country and in turn will benefit everyone in terms of development, as Fiji cannot become a better country if there is racial divide within our society.
The Prime Minister stressed that this remains one of the biggest problems that they are trying to overcome as politicians have painted a picture in people's minds that people are different based on their race, and he has called on the chiefs to change that mentality, especially since the concept was brought about by greedy people.
The meeting continues tomorrow.
