The taukei Namara Ratu Peni Sogia has stressed that no one else can install the Tui Macuata.

Ratu Peni's statement comes after another clan wanted to stop the installation process yesterday.

The Taukei Namara said a group from the clan approached him before the installation and asked him to wait for further consultation.

Ratu Peni said they will go ahead with the process and other clans have to follow and respect the decision.

Ratu Peni said the problem is arising because some people think they know everything and everyone wants to be a chief.

The other group made up of the Tokatoka Nawaivuvu and Vuya is now planning to take the matter to the Native Land Commission.

Meanwhile the new Tui Macuata-Taukei Bolatagane Ratu Wiliame Maivalili Katonivere, the younger brother of the late Ratu Aisea Katonivere said he is ready to live up to his late brother's legacy.

Ratu Wiliame was traditionally handed the Tui Macuata title yesterday in the chiefly village of Naduri.

49 year old Ratu Wiliame is married, has two children and is an employee of the Macuata Tikina Holdings.

The installation was overseen by the Sau Turaga, Taukei Namara - Ratu Peni Sogia and the Mataqali Nabariqi Yavusa Namama.
