The Wages Council said they have no objection to the call made by some women's organizations to have house girls and cleaners covered under minimum wage.

Some women's organizations made the call on Monday during a program organized to mark International Women’s Day that women who are doing domestic duties should be covered under the minimum wage to be set from $100 to $175 a week.

Council chairman Father Kevin Barr said this is a good idea however there needs to be a grouping of these women to actually carry out the work.
