The Fiji Islands Revenue and Customs Authority stresses there is no new tax or set of rules relating to tax on benefits offered to employees by their employers in the hotel sector.
FIRCA CEO Jitoko Tikolevu said hotel owners who are employers are required, like all employers in Fiji to be aware of the past instructions on tax benefits granted in terms of employment.
While responding to concerns raised from within the Hotel sector regarding the taxes on benefit Tax, Tikolevu said only the rates have been reviewed to ensure it is up to par with current time and all employers have been made aware of this.
He stresses that the provision of meals and accommodation at hotel workers is a benefit that is subject to tax as it is used to entice workers to take up employment.
