Bad news for people who are seeking to renew their passports or obtain a new Fiji passport as the Immigration Department will not be issuing any new passports until December.
Immigration Director Viliame Naupoto said the fast rate of passport issuing and the continuing high demand for new passports has depleted the current stock at a faster rate than expected.
He said the available stock will finish before the new batch arrives in the country with one lot coming in on December 3rd while the second on the 14th December.
Naupoto said the Immigration Department has deferred normal issuing of passports currently until December and limited passports in hand will only be issued in Emergency and medical cases.
He confirms that the Department will continue receiving applications however passports will only be issued in mid December.
