None of the National 7s players will be playing this weekend in the Farebrother Sullivan trophy challenge between Suva and Nadroga.

That is the confirmation from 7's coach, Alifereti Dere as he does not want to risk the players before the Gold Coast 7s which is less than three weeks away.

Apisai Domolailai, Peni Ravai, Apisalome Waqatabu, Samisoni Viriviri, Ulaiasi Lawavou, Sailosi Rabonaqica of Nadroga along with Suva's Osea Kolinisau and Leone Tabuarua will not be released this weekend.

Dere said most of these players are expected to make the 16 member National 7's team that will be announced this Saturday.

Dere added that they are also monitoring the performance of former reps like Emosi Vucago and Nemani Nagusa and should the need arise then they can be called into the extended squad.

Meanwhile, there are indications that Lepani Botia and Osea Kolinisau will be the co-captains for the Gold Coast 7s.

The final 12 member team for the Gold Coast tournament will be named next Wednesday.

The Gold Coast 7s will be held on the 13th and 14th of next month.
