Close to 2,000 people who live close to Nalebaleba village in the upper Valley road in Sigatoka will no longer face water problems after the government of Japan funded a water project for them.

Through the grant assistance for Grassroots Human Security projects, the people of Nalebaleba were handed a complete water supply facility including construction of two 10,000 litre water tanks, pipe works and water catchment areas worth US$83,000.

It marked a new era in the lives of the people of Nalebaleba village to enjoy modern and hygienic facilities in particular flush toilets and shower amenities which minimize health related and environment risks.

The new water supply facility will also ensure ample regular supply of tap water for daily use for all villagers and bring development and improvement in the lives of everyone in the village.

The first cecretary at the Embassy of Japan Tatsushi Matsuo was the chief guest in the handover ceremony.
