The Health Ministry has today clarified that all the permits have been cancelled and people can no longer hold fundraising events for medical assistance.
A letter was written to all permanent secretaries of ministries who grant such permits, commissioners and district officers informing them on the issuance of the permit.
However, people are still seen asking for money for overseas treatment.
Health Ministry spokesperson Iliesa Tora said it is now on the commissioner and district officers to ensure that the permits are cancelled.
The Health Ministry will now determine if a person needs overseas medical treatment or can be treated locally.
