As the term two for schools around the country comes to an and this week the Coca Cola deans finals to kick off this weekend, the Education Ministry is reiterating that any student caught and charged by police for unruly behavior and school brawls should not expect any mercy from the authority.
Education Minister Filipe Bole said that students should avoid loitering around town and go straight home after the recent reported cases of student brawls in Suva.
Bole said once a student is charged, the offence will be in his or her file and chances of getting employed or travelling overseas will be very slim as the student will already have a bad record with the police, and that students must be reminded that most employers, including the civil service, now need police clearance as a criteria for employment.
Furthermore, the Minister advises parents and teachers to talk to their children and keep on reminding them that once they get into the wrong side of the law, they will be officially charged by the Police and no one can interfere on their behalf.
Term two school ends this Friday.
