No major issues for Games Village and accommodation in Rio - Wong

Team Fiji Chef de Mission, Cathy Wong says they have not had any major issues for the Games Village and accommodation in Rio.

Speaking from Rio, Wong says Team Fiji athletes are happy after their first meeting.

She says the focus now for them is to prepare for the opening ceremony and the flag raising ceremony.

Wong says the flag raising ceremony is the recognition that Fiji is now in the Games Village.

She adds that Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama and his wife will be present at the flag raising ceremony.

Wong says many Fijians are also coming to Rio for the Olympic Games.

Meanwhile the official opening ceremony will start at 11am this Saturday.

The Fiji men’s soccer team will play Korea Republic at 11am Friday.

The Fijiana 7s team will take on USA in their first pool match at 4am this Sunday. They play Australia at 9.30am and then take on Colombia at 4am Monday.
