The government has stressed to all civil servants that they cannot accept any form of gifts when they are on official visits to the different areas of the country.
Permanent Secretary for Information, Lt Colonel Neumi Leweni said the directive has been issued that whatever is presented to civil servants should be returned.
It was earlier highlighted by former High Court Judge, Justice Nazhat Shameem while speaking on the Crimes Decree that civil servants should be mindful when they are presented with gifts in return for certain projects.
She has said that this is seen as offering and accepting a bribe.
