The Interim Minister for Public Service, Poseci Bune has stressed that the interim regime will not make any further attempts to speak to executives of the Fiji Nursing Association, whose members are now on strike.
Speaking to Village news late last night, Bune said the FNA Executives turned back on their word earlier and they must now initiate talks, as the interim regime is confident of carrying on the health services, without those nurses who have walked off their jobs.
Bune also said it is disappointing that the FNA rejected the major concessions approved by the interim cabinet.
According to Bune, the FNA Executives are no longer acting in the best interest of the nurses saying that their actions are politically motivated.
However, FNA General Secretary Kuini Lutua said there is nothing political about the actions they have taken.
Lutua also said that the major concession which Bune is referring to is nothing new to the FNA.
According to Lutua, they expect health services to come to a stand still over the next few hours.
