Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama alleged that some senior military officers abused funds collected during a fundraising drive inside the camp.

Bainimarama made the comment when speaking at the parade at Queen Elizabeth Barrack and ordered that there will no more fundraising drives.

He directed that the military strategic headquarters will issue a directive soon to stop fundraising and he should be informed if there is a fundraising drive.

Bainimarama said that he received information that there are some elements who want to de-stabilize his government during the next 5 years and he has warned them not to do so.

He said the change of government in 2006 is not the same as the 1987 coup where various people want to benefit and told the soldiers to inform civil servants from various ministries that no one is to go against his government.
