The District Office in Sigatoka and Nadroga has not received any complaints from people affected by the floods on expired food rations.

DO Sigatoka, Kaliova Bainivalu said food rations are being cross checked carefully before it is distributed to people.

He added they have not come across any direct assistance like the ones from New Zealand, which was given to the people of Navakai, in Nadi.

Bainivalu added another lot of food supply is ready for distribution for next month to the Sigatoka areas.

Meanwhile, the Consumer Council is calling on people receiving food products donated by various organizations, to check the expiry dates first.

Chief Executive Officer, Premila Kumar said people should be careful after receiving complaints from flood victims in Navakai, Nadi, about receiving expired products through donations from a New Zealand organization.

Kumar is urging people to read the labels of the food items before consuming them.
