The incoming president of the Methodist Church of Fiji Reverend Tuikilakila Waqairatu said he will not make any comments on the church’s stand that Fiji should be a Christian state.

Reverend Waqairatu said the church committee has now advised him not to make any comments.

However, Fijivillage has questioned him why he does not want to speak to us when he has made comments to the Australian media.

He said he can only speak after they make the submission to the Constitution Commission.

Reverend Waqairatu has made it clear that the church wants the country to be declared a Christian state.

He has told Radio Australia that according to the Methodist Church, the country’s chiefs have decided that Fiji be a Christian country.
