No classes this Friday for schools
This has been revealed by Education Minister Filipe Bole who said the Fiji Day celebrations will cost $40,000 adding celebrations will start simultaneously in Suva, Labasa and Lautoka with marches and assemblies.
Bole said in Suva, students, education stakeholders, the RFMF, Fiji Police and National Youth Bands will start their march at 9am from Victoria Parade to Albert Park while at the same time in Labasa, their march will begin from Macuata House to St Mary's school ground.
He said in Lautoka, students and teachers will assemble at the Lautoka Methodist Primary School ground at 8.30am.
The Education Minister said in Suva, the Chief Guest will be Acting President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau, while the Commissioner Western and Northern will be Chief Guests in their respective areas.
Meanwhile, a theme song has been composed for this year's celebration and will be sung by more than 600 students from selected schools in Suva.
