The Sugarcane Growers Council believes no change will be made to the Cane Grower’s Fund which is like a bank to farmers as cabinet has made a decision to dissolve the council in the next three months.
Farmers usually take loans from the Grower’s Fund for their farm development and council chairman Jain Kumar said it did not cost much to operate the council.
Meanwhile, Sugar Ministry Permanent Secretary Parmesh Chand said the council has been informed about the decision as government has seen necessary to take this step for the benefit of the sugar industry.
Chand added that this is part of the reform the government is undertaking and added the decision was made after an analysis was provided to cabinet in their last sitting.
