No bus services will be a thing of the past
This is because the Works Ministry has confirmed that the next phase of infrastructure work, from after the Naqali Bridge on the Sawani-Serea Highway, will include the development of the back road that leads to the villagers of Serea, Naivucini, Nadovu and the upper Monasavu area.
The Ministry has agreed that they will develop the back road that enters through Navokece village that goes to Serea, Naivucini and Nadovu.
Waqainabete added they will also inform the bus company servicing the area of the developments, so they can make their changes in due course.
The Ministry has already handed in their paperwork to cabinet and is still awaiting their approval.
For these areas, every time there is severe flooding, the riverbanks near Naluwai village are washed away by floodwaters and it is hard for the buses and carriers to pass through, as most fear for their safety.
As a result the villagers in the highlands of Naitasiri are without food supply and other necessities as there is no transport available to get food across and most vehicles refuse to use the back road that enters near Navokece village, as the road condition is very bad during rainy weather.
