After two days of intense negotiations, officials from ATH and the interim government continue talks behind closed doors in Nadi on the compensation for the exclusive licenses held by Vodafone, FINTEL and Telecom Fiji Limited.

Village News has received confirmation, that the negotiations are expected to continue into the evening.

And as the meeting progresses, we have received confirmation that the issue of monetary compensation in return for the exclusive licenses has been taken off the table as the interim government is not in a position to make any such payout.

It has been established that the two parties are negotiating possible tax concessions over a period of time to cover the value of the licenses held by the three carriers.

ATH CEO Tomasi Vakatora, Communication Minister Taito Waradi and his Permanent Secretary Amena Yauvoli are heading the talks which also includes officials from FINTEL, Vodafone and Telecom Fiji Limited along with a mediator from the World Bank.
