No Water Guarantee
Water disruptions began earlier this week with the collapse of the Laqere Bridge pipes rendering thousands of residents along the Suva-Nausori corridor without water.
The Water Department said repair works are expected to take 3-4 weeks and as a result water has been re-directed from the Tamavua system to cater to those affected.
The Water Department's Maika Nagalu said the Tamavua system normally caters to areas in Suva and Lami.
Also, water problems escalated on Wednesday night as mechanical problems developed on the Wainibuku Reservoir, water supply was expected to normalise the next day.
The safest thing to do at this time would be to continue storing water when you can.
Meanwhile, head teachers of schools affected by the recent water cuts are being asked to call the Water Department if they continue to face water disruptions.
Principal Information Officer, Iliesa Sokia said this needs to be done so there are no disruptions to classes.
The Water Department has confirmed that Water supply in the affected areas in central Suva and surrounding areas is not expected to normalise until the end of next week.
