There is no warning system in place when any of our water pump stations breakdown. The only system in place is the Scarter System which keeps count of the water level in reservoirs.
Maika Nagalu the Media Liaison Officer for the Water Supply Department said that only 5 to 6 men keep watch on the water level at the Waimanu and Savura pumping stations, therefore the late reaction to the pump failure has left residents in Samabula, Lami and along Princess Road without water supply since last night.
Speaking to Fijivillage, Nagalu said they are currently working around the clock to get the water back on and families can expect as early as late this afternoon.
Areas affected are high areas in Samabula, Lakeba Street, Princess Road, Areas in Namadi Heights, Pathik Cresent, Salesi Road, Salato Road, the high areas of Lami, Qauia, high areas of Delainavesi right up to Veisari.
