The Health Ministry said there is no time frame on how long it will take the ministry to control dengue fever completely.

The National Advisor for NCD's Dr Eric Rafai said Fiji currently has category 4 Dengue which was earlier found in Samoa, New Caledonia and Kiribati.

He said the number of people suffering from severe dengue in the country is 5% in every 200 cases and is urging people to see their doctor if they feel joint pains, severe head or back ache and fever. According to Dr Eric there is a very simple treatment for Dengue and that is to just drink lots of fluid, take paracetamol and have complete bed rest.

He is calling on people to not only clean their compounds but to clean potplants and other areas inside their houses where mosquitos can breed.
