There are now revelations that most of the staff of the Education and Health Ministries who have been overpaid over the past few years, have left our shores already for greener pastures.
The Public Accounts Committee which has assessed that teachers and nurses are the main people who received overpayments, have not reimbursed the excess amount concerned.
Committee Member, Taufa Vakatale said something needs to be done by these two ministries to address the problem.
Vakatale said they want to ensure that the Immigration Department has a list of the government workers who have been overpaid and have not reimbursed the excess amount.
A final decision is yet to be made to address this problem.
