Today is World Environment Day and concerned citizens, the private sector and the government have decided to come together and call this day "No Plastic Bag Day".

Coordinator Isabelle Dina said Fiji has a population of just over 800,000 but uses a minimum of 66 million plastic bags annually which on average is 83 plastic bags per person per year.

She added plastic bags are used every day, they pollute our environment and people should start taking some responsibility and protect our environment.
