The Fiji Broadcasting Corporation Limited Board has stressed that the decision to recommend Riyaz Sayed Khaiyum for the post of FBCL CEO was an independent decision, however, no official appointment has been made as yet.
Speaking to Village News, FBCL Chairman Daniel Whippy confirms that while Sayed-Khaiyum's name has been endorsed by the Prime Minister's Office, Sayed-Khaiyum is yet to accept the offer.
Whippy also confirms that some changes have been made to the working conditions of the CEO's contract by the PM's Office.
According to Whippy, this is normal practice that the working conditions for CEOs in commercial arms of government are set out by the PM's Office.
Whippy said allegations of nepotism being leveled against the board are baseless as no appointment has been made as yet.
