The Association of Banks in Fiji said they do not object to the appointment of a Banking Ombudsman to assess operations of the banks and the fees and charges, which have been talked about by governments for the past ten years.
Chairman of the Association, Robert Bell said they have made suggestions to the authorities but he stresses that the Association of Banks in Fiji wants an independent Ombudsman.
Bell who is the General Manager for ANZ in Fiji, said ANZ is already taking steps to make the fees and charges simple for the customers so that they are not charged any surprise fees.
Despite comments being made about the political uncertainties in some of the countries in the Pacific region, ANZ has announced its Pacific growth strategy which will further strengthen its position in the region.
When questioned by Fijivillage News on the negative comments made by some about Fiji's economy due to political and economic uncertainties and some other countries, ANZ Pacific CEO, Craig Sims said ANZ bank has been around in Fiji for 130 years and they know how to deal with issues that do arise and always have back up plans in place.
