The Ten Wages Councils in the country are of the view that a national minimum wage to be applied across the board will not be a viable option in Fiji.
Chairman of the Ten Wages Councils Father Kevin Barr said the Council members are aware that it will not be possible to impose an increased national minimum wage.
Father Barr also confirmed that the wages for temporary workers and those in the retail sector will be reviewed to ensure that people in these sectors are being paid fairly.
Meanwhile, the Public Sector Unions had indicated earlier that they will call on the Wages Council to impose a minimum wage of $5 per hour within the civil service.
