The Interim Minister for Education has today clarified that there would not be a repeat of students being sent home during school.

This is after 216 boarders from Labasa College were sent home last Friday because the school could not afford to feed them.

In a statement, Filipe Bole said that since sending the children home would affect their school work, there would not be a repeat of the incident as the ministry stands by its promise to ensure all children receive the best education they can get.

Labasa College Principal Sarafina Saukilagi confirmed that the Interim Minister had met with her but refused to give any comments on the issue.

However, the school confirmed they had sought an increase in the $10,000 allocated to them for food but they were yet to receive a reply.

Labasa College caters for Form 5, 6 and 7 students who come from as far as Bua for higher education.
