Constitutional Offices Commission Chairman Rishi Ram has stressed that no local is qualified to take the position of Supervisor of Elections.
When questioned by FijiVillage on whether any local will take up the position, Ram said no one is qualified to do the job.
Meanwhile newly appointed Supervisor of Elections Dr Maurice Coughlan's appointment hangs in the balance with the Constitutional Offices Commission expected to decide his fate later today.
After revelations that Dr. Coughlan was disbarred from practicing law in New Zealand in 1992 due to a bad business transaction, Ram said this information was not revealed to them in his application letter or interview.
Commission Chairman Rishi Ram said Coughlan's fate will be known today and at this stage, he is not the Supervisor of Elections
Ram said the Constitutional Offices Commission will appoint someone else to replace him if a decision is made against Dr. Coughlan.
