The ousted Prime Minister and SDL Party Leader believes that no excuse should be given for the oversight made by the Constitutional Offices Commission in appointing Dr. Maurice Coughlan as the Supervisor of Elections who was disbarred in 1992.
Laisenia Qarase said for a position such as Supervisor of Elections, a thorough check should have been conducted on Dr Coughlan's background however, the Constitutional Offices Commission failed to do so.
He added that that the commission should not blame the applicant for not disclosing such information.
Qarase adds that this post should be reserved for a local person.
