As thousands of civil servants remain concerned going into the new year that another pay cut is being considered by the interim government, the Public Service Commission stresses that no decision has been made on the matter.
PSC Chairman Rishi Ram said that nothing has been discussed on the matter and at this stage it is just speculation.
However, the Interim Minister for Public Service Poseci Bune confirmed that they are exploring the possibility of another pay cut as a cost cutting measure. This comes after the High Court quashed the cabinet decision to reduce the retirement age in the civil service from 60 to 55 years.
Meanwhile, the PSC is yet to confirm if it will appeal the ruling by the High Court in relation to the retirement age.
