The interim Education Minister Filipe Bole said no changes will be made to the 1st term of school which starts from next Monday for teachers and next Tuesday for students.

Bole said surveys are being conducted by the district education offices for flood affected schools and schools that need assistance in teaching or learning resources will be assisted by the Ministry.

He said all school heads are to contact their local district offices and provide an update on the condition of their schools.

However, he said the reports must be detailed and thorough as the decision on the type of assistance to be provided will be reliant on these reports.

Bole added that Principals and Head Teachers are to use their discretion in assessing the situation in their schools.

According to Bole, as the bad weather condition prevails, constant monitoring will be conducted.

He said the approval will have to be sought from the Permanent Secretary for Education through the Divisional Education Officer if a school cannot open on the first day of this term.
