No Budget for Independent Investigating Team
Team member Luke Yavaca confirmed to Fijivillage that there was no clear indication from the Ministry of Fijian Affairs on the work to be done now, months after they were appointed by former Fijian Affairs Minister Ratu Epeli Ganilau last year.
He said no work has been carried out for more than five months.
Fijivillage has been reliably informed that there was no budget allocation for the independent team in this year's budget.
Committee Chairman Colonel Kurusiga said all queries regarding the investigating team should be directed to Permanent Secretary for Fijian Affairs Ratu Meli Bainimarama.
The other committee members are Kalaveti Batibasaga, who could not be reached for comment and Ponipate Lesavua who, after differences in opinion, was terminated by Colonel Kurusiga last year. Lesavua was recently appointed by Police Commissioner Esala Teleni to head a team to investigate the differences among senior police officers.
