The residents of the Muanivatu Squatter settlement will not make any attempts to move as there still no word of a suitable piece of land for them to re-locate to.
This had been confirmed by ECREA's Semiti Qalowasa, who said while a piece of land has been allocated at Sasaiwira, they cannot move there yet as there is no source of electricity or water available at the area.
Qalowasa said the residents of Muanivatu have acknowledged that the land rightfully belongs to the Suva City Council and all they are asking for is a little compassion from the government and the council as they do not have a lot of resources to move to another area.
Qalowasa said ECREA will try to schedule a meeting with the Human Rights Commission to lodge a complaint.
They have been given till the end of this month to vacate the land by the Suva City Council.
