No Assistance Applied For In Budget By FRU
With the World Cup 7s tournament the only major event for next year, this could be the reason for not seeking any assistance, as the Digicel Fiji 7s team already has a sponsor.
FRU were given close to $2 million last year for the Rugby World Cup preparation.
Chief Executive Ratu Timoci Tavanavanua also confirmed that they are in the process of finalizing the major sponsor for the National 15s team within the next two to three weeks.
Meanwhile Fiji Football Association, Netball Fiji and few other sporting organizations have submitted their submission through the Ministry of Youth and Sports and FASANOC to get assistance for next season.
FASANOC President Vidhya Lakhan who is away in South Africa, said he can only make a comment, once the 2009 National Budget is announced.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports has applied for $4 million with $1,197,400 for sports development for next year.
