Nine Chiefs Name Given For GCC
In a statement, the Interim PM Commodore Frank Bainimarama has noted that of the fourteen provinces and Rotuma, only Bua, Lau and Macuata have responded and formally forwarded the names of their three representatives.
The representatives of Bua are, the Tui Bua - Adi Ana Lalana-baravi, Tui Vuya - Ratu Amenatave Rabonu and Tui Nadi (Kubulau) - Ratu Peni Rasi-gone.
Representing Lau are Ratu Tevita Uluilakeba Mara, Tui Mavana and Sau mai Mualevu - Ratu Josefa Basulu and Tui Moala - Ratu Josua Ravula Draunidalo.
Macuata will be represented by Tui Macuata - Ratu Aisea Katonivere, Tui Labasa - Adi Salanieta Tuilomaloma and Turaga Sauvou - Ratu Emori Waqanivalu.
The Native Lands Commission will be requested to confirm that these chiefs are Turaga I Taukei and have been formally installed, as required in the regulations, before they can be formally appointed as members of the GCC.
Names submitted earlier to the Taskforce will not be considered for membership because it was not put forward by the Bose Vanua of the Provinces concerned but by individuals.
