Former Suva Grammar sprinter, Niko Verekauta celebrated his 21st birthday last Saturday in style with a very impressive run in the Auckland Athletics Championship 400 meters.

He comfortably won the event in 46.4 seconds - an impressive run and is an indication that it will not be very long before he breaks the 46 seconds barrier.

Meanwhile, Fiji's sprint queen Makelesi Bulikiobo continued with her impressive performance in the Sydney Athletics Grand Prix running in second place in the Women’s Open 200 meters in 23.84 seconds .4 seconds behind winner Sherone Simpson of Jamaica.

Also, 2007 FASANOC Personality of the Year - Leslie Copeland took out top honors winning the Men’s Under-23 Javelin in Queensland, with a throw of 70.75 meters.
