The Suva City Council has today confirmed that the Nightclubs are to remain open until 1 o'clock every morning.
The Councils media liaison officer Jillian Hicks said that the according to the License, given out for nightclubs allows them to operate until 1am.
However, she does not mention anything about their licenses being taken away if they did not adhere to that deadline.
Meanwhile, Assistant Police spokesperson Sergeant Atunaisa Sokomuri said that it is the prerogative of the Suva City Council to see that nightclubs operate within the limited hours and the Police are there only to see that Law and Order is observed during this festive season.
Efforts to get a comment from the Liquor Tribunal proved futile.
