Nigeria's president has suspended his nation's football team from international competition for two years after a poor showing at the World Cup.
President Goodluck Jonathan told reporters the decision will "enable Nigeria to reorganise its football".
Jonathan said that the Nigerian Football Federation is to be dissolved and an interim board appointed after Nigeria were knocked out in the group stages of the World Cup without winning a game.
Jonathan said that he has directed that Nigeria to withdraw from international competition for two years to enable the country to put its house in order.
FIFA's position regarding political interference in football is well known that they do not allow for any political interference.
Under FIFA rules, government interference with national teams is strictly forbidden.
Nigeria's risks their national and club teams, plus referees, being banned from all international competitions and their officials would not be allowed to attend meetings or events.
Meanwhile, looking at the quarter finals of the FIFA World Cup, Brazil will now play Netherlands on Saturday morning at 2am and at 6.30am Uruguay will take on Ghana.
Argentina will play Germany at 2am on Sunday morning and at 6.30am Paraguay will face Spain.
