The Native Lands Trust Board has clarified that no double payment has been made to two land owning units in Labasa for the use of their land as claimed in a report in one of the dailies today.
NLTB spokesperson Nimilote Naivalumaira told Fijivillage that claims of double dipping is simply incorrect information as the $60,000 approved by cabinet yesterday is reimbursement to the NLTB for making the payment last year.
Naivalumaira confirmed that no clarification was sought from the NLTB on the matter.
Interim Prime Minister and Minister for Indigenous Affairs Commodore Frank Bainimarama said these are the sorts of reports which concerns the interim government.
