Tougher laws relating to human trafficking, genocide, and crimes against humanity through the Crime Promulgation now sees Fiji complying with its international obligations.
The Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed Khiayum says the new laws have been enhanced to allow the law enforcement agencies, to better deal with such crimes which is now becoming prevalent around the world.
Sayed Khaiyum also warned that the courts will no longer hand down minimal sentences for attacks on places of worship.
The Crime Promulgation and Sentences and Penalties decree comes into effect from February 1st, 2010.
