A 20 year old single mother of Ra is under investigation for allegedly burying her newborn baby alive.
Divisional Crime Officer Western SP Luke Rawalai had confirmed that they are questioning a man who is believed to be the partner of the woman.
It is alleged the woman gave birth to a baby on 2nd of this month and later allegedly buried it in an isolated area.
Police were informed by an unknown caller and are treating the case as an alleged infanticide.
The woman is admitted at the Rakiraki hospital under heavy police guard.
Meanwhile, police are yet to question people in relation to the alleged murder of a retired bank officer in Yalalevu, Ba whose body was found inside his house yesterday afternoon.
Police suspect it’s a murder case because his house was broken into and he had some visible injuries.
SP Rawalai said they have managed to establish that a taxi stolen from Suva was found abandoned about 200 metres away from the victims house and his vehicle was found in Lautoka.
Police believe the same people who stole the taxi from Suva were allegedly involved in the homicide.
