A new winner will be crowned in the Pacific Nations Cup this afternoon after Tonga beat defending champion Samoa 29-19 at Churchill Park in the last hour.

The win also puts Tonga as the front runner to win the PNC title although they did not score a bonus point win against Samoa.

Tonga now has 10 points with the total points scored at 101 points while only 68 points was scored against them and they have a plus 33 points difference.

They also have scored 10 tries and 7 were scored against them.

Fiji will start the game against Japan with 57 points scored while 63 points have been scored against them.

To win the PNC title, Fiji will have to win by a clear margin of 40 points against Japan this afternoon.

Currently Fiji leads Japan 8-0 in the first half.
