Fiji needs another landing site for the Southern Cross Cable to ensure that we do not get handicapped when there is a disaster or in cases of national security.
Commerce Commission Chairman, Doctor Mahendra Reddy said while Fiji is leading the way in the region in terms of internet accessibility, we are at a critical stage in terms of security.
He added a new site is being looked for in the Western Division as the next site for access to the Southern Cross cable.
At the moment, the lone landing site is in Vatuwaqa and is being accessed by both FINTEL and TFL.
