The Lau Provincial Council today announced that a new ship is to be purchased from New Zealand to cater for the Lau group, to counter the irregular shipping services.
In a press conference this afternoon, Chairman Ratu Tevita Uluilakeba said the cost of the ship is over a million dollars which is likely to be Fiji by September.
Uluilakeba said the ship has come at the right time.
Meanwhile Chief Executive of the Yatu Lau Company, Michael Makasiale said the ship will service two routes.
