The children of Wailevu which consists of 29 villages will not have to travel to Savusavu and Labasa to attend Secondary school in the near future after they have a secondary school of their own.

The Education Minister Filipe Bole while meeting with the Tui Wailevu and the elders of Wailevu yesterday told them that the school will be called Uluivalili Secondary School.

He said the Education Ministry will assist in the establishment of the school with a capital grant of $251,000 and construction work is expected to start this year. The first phase of work will include the building of a 1 x 3 classroom and all the other basic needs for a school while the last phase is expected to be complete by 2014. The school is expected to open its doors next year.

Presently more than 300 students from 29 villages in Wailevu travel daily to Labasa or Savusavu to attend school and a new secondary school in the Wailevu area will bring great relief to the parents.
