A News program will be put in place to isolate any persons reported to have a contagious disease that may be a threat to the public.
Speaking to Fijivillage News, Permanent Secretary for Health Doctor Lepani Waqatakirewa said in the past many people were taken away, in the case of Leprosy to Makogai. He adds this is not the way they will operate now that the Ministry has been given the go - ahead to review the Notifiable disease List.
Howeverm, he stressed that while protecting the general public from any contagious diseases, the rights of those infected will be upheld.
According to Waqatakirewa they are going through the list as it has been over 40 years since being reviewed and News diseases have emerged.
The Interim Cabinet had approved the review of the Notifiable diseases list which will see two News inclusions, HIV/AIDS and the Avian flu.
